Cavities, which are a type of tooth decay, happen when certain bacteria types produce acid which destroys the enamel of the tooth and also the dentin, which is the underlying layer. The first group of children had more cavities, the second one had certain improvements, but the third group showed the greatest improvements, with most of the cavities completely healed.
This findings have been corroborated by a number of dentists and doctors, who say that diet can actually help people deal with cavities. Moreover, we thought that the sugar only is to blame for the development of cavities, but that is not the case, since there are also other factors which contribute to it.
Dr. Weston Price, Dr. Edward Mellanby, and Dr. Ramiel Nagel claim that there are four main contributors to tooth decay:
- Deficiencies of minerals like phosphorus, calcium and magnesium
- Deficiency of fat-soluble vitamins like A, K, E and D
- Consuming too much foods rich in phytic acid
- Consuming too much processed sugar

In order to prevent tooth decay, you need to consume more fat-soluble minerals and vitamins. You can start by eating loads of fruits and vegetables, leafy greens in particular.
