Stop Purchasing Avocados. Grow Them Like This In a Small Pot at Your Home!

Avocados have become part of the modern healthy diets. This happens because avocados have a number of health benefits and they have captivated the health-conscious community. Avocados are abundant in essential vitamins such as E, K, C, B6, B5, potassium and so on. Moreover, they are a rich source of fiber, and they also contain a fatty acid, which is known as “heart healthy”.

Because of their versatility, avocados have become quite popular, and their popularity is still on the rise. Avocados can be easily added to any dish instead of a less-healthy choice or to enrich the color. What’s amazing about them is that they do not change the taste of the meal.

In this article, read about how to grow avocados at your home.

  1. Sprout Avocado Seed

Take an avocado seed, take four toothpicks and stick them in the seed. They need to be put at an equal distance, approximately halfway downward from the top. Make sure to use even and nice toothpicks since they are going to help suspend the seed.

Next, put the seed in a glass of water. The dimpled end of the seed needs to be soaked in an inch of water. You need to use the toothpicks as shown in the picture below.

Leave the seed to soak for two to six weeks, away from a direct sunlight, but somewhere warm.

Throughout this time, you should be able to see stem and roots sprout. Once the stem is 6-inch long, you need to cut it to three inches. In this way, you will allow for the leaves to grow and the root to thicken.

  1. The Time Has Come to Plant It

Take a pot with 10-inch diameter and fill it with nutrient-rich soil. Make a small hole in the center and plant the seed there. You need to be careful to put the roots in the soil, and half of the seed exposed. Use a terra-cotta pot that has a hole in the bottom for proper drainage.

Make sure to keep the soil moist, but do not oversaturate it. You need to water the seed regularly and generously. In case the leaves begin to droop or become yellow, leave your seed so it can dry out and then water more but use smaller water amounts. However, if the leaves become dry and brown, then it lacks water. Place the pot in the sink, allowing for the water to go through it in a gentle way for a few moments. Nevertheless, make sure that the plant is completely drained.
