Peppermint Oil

Bugs can’t stand the smell of peppermint oil, meaning you can use it as a repellent. Mix 8 drops of peppermint essential oil with some water and spray the solution in every corner of your house. If you feel that the solution isn’t strong enough add a few more drops of the essential oil. You can try a mixture of vinegar and peppermint essential oil, it could work as well!

Vinegar

Vinegar can be very useful for a number of things and one of its less known attributes is that it can serve as an excellent insect repellent. Mix one part vinegar with two parts water in a spray bottle and spray the solution around the house,

Baking Soda

Baking soda absorbs moisture from the body of bugs. Sprinkle some baking soda around the house, paying special attention to the cracks and crevices. Vacuum the baking soda after a couple of days and sprinkle it once more.

Lavender, Rosemary & Eucalyptus

Lavender oil, rosemary and eucalyptus oils are extremely effective against bed bugs. Mix a couple of drops of these oils with a cup of water. Pour it into a spray bottle and spray onto the bugs and around your sleeping area.

Mint Leaves

Just like peppermint oil, mint leaves are powerful bug repellents. Crush a few mint leaves and sprinkle them around the sleeping area or under the mattress. You can place them in the closet as well and protect your clothes. You get the nice smell, fresh smell as an extra!

Cayenne Pepper

Cayenne pepper can repel bugs. Sprinkle some cayenne pepper around the vulnerable spots in your house and be sure the bugs won’t come anywhere near it.

Silica Gel

Grinded silica gel can be applied everywhere in your bedroom. The bugs get stuck in this gel and die.

Vacuum Cleaner

In addition to all of these natural repellents the first condition to keep your house bug-free is to keep it clean. Vacuum regularly, sweep the floors and clean up the clutter in your closets.
