Although small, this loop was extremely handy and was used to hang a shirt without getting wrinkled.

This loop was initially used by East Coast sailors who used to hang their shirts on ship hooks when changing. Soon, the detail found its way from the ships to the streets. The trend started with the US made Oxford button down shirts in the 1960′s.

Years later, the loop become a symbol used to denote relationship status or to show interest. Ladies used to rip the locker loop on the shirts of boys they were attracted to. In some cases, the boys removed the loop to show they were already taken.

Soon, many other brands followed this trend which continues till today. However, with the arrival of wardrobes, the locker loops now serve only as a decorative design.
