FDA Forces Nationwide Recalls For Multiple Brands … Turmeric Spices Found Heavily Contaminated With Toxic LEAD

Enforcement action on the subject was taken by FDA. Due to dangerous levels of lead found in their spices, Gel Spice and JM Exotic Foods are at least two manufacturers that have been actually forced to issue “voluntary” recalls of their turmeric powders and products.

The presence of heavy metals in the content of these turmeric products usually lead to bone issues, heart problems and brain damage.

Turmeric is often grown in lead soils in India and then transported to America so lead is notoriously common in turmeric products and turmeric powders.

One FDA recall page proves that lead can build up in human the body over time and cause learning deficiencies and delayed physical and mental development. Young children, infants and pregnant women should definitely avoid the exposure to lead.

Food and Drug Administration still will not claim how much lead is too much…

Many facilities were visited across the US in order to check supplement and food manufacturers. Unfortunately, FDA still refuses to give the information “how much lead is “needed” to trigger a recall”.

Due to lead contamination, six brands of turmeric being recalled. So far, Gel Spice, Inc., is taking precautions and 3 have been no injuries or illnesses reported from the presence of high levels of lead in their content.
