More than 70% of the olive oils in the American markets are fake, they are actually cut with bad and cheap oils such as canola and sunflower. These products are supposed to be really healthy, but now, they are corrupted.
Before a couple of months ago, it was found that 7 of the largest olive oil companies in America mix their items with other cheap oils in order to maximize their profits.
In 2008, Italian police conducted the breakdown known as Operation Golden Oil. It was found that 85 oil companies mixed some percentage of chlorophyll with canola and sunflower to the olive oil.
This fake oil was also flavored, perfumed and mixed. The Australian government also conducted an investigation where the results were awful. In 2012, not one brand was certified as extra virgin.
The investigation that was conducted by the California University found that 70% of the imported oils in US failed the tests.

How to Test Olive Oil
Store the bottle into the fridge for 45 min. It has monounsaturated fats and it is pure if it gets solid.
However, it is fake if it stays liquid.
